Wenzhou Medical University, originally established as Zhejiang Medical College in 1912, underwent significant development. In August 1958, the College of Medicine, previously part of Zhejiang Wenzhou, relocated from Hangzhou to form the foundation of what was initially known as the “Zhejiang Second Medical College.” Over the years, the institution evolved, eventually adopting the name “Wenzhou Medical Hospital” in 2013, later changed to “Wenzhou Medical College.”
Commencing its undergraduate student recruitment in 1958, the college holds the distinction of being the nation’s first institution to grant master’s degrees, including the awarding of doctorates. Presently, it houses a clinical doctoral level and offers master’s degree programs in various disciplines such as clinical medicine, pharmacy, biology, biomedical engineering, basic medicine, integrative medicine, pharmacy, nursing, and more. Additionally, the college features a post-doctoral research station and facilitates the qualification pursuit of master’s degrees for outstanding college graduates.
