Situated at the center of Ji’an Municipality, Jinggangshan University is a state-run establishment renowned for its extensive and superior undergraduate program steeped in rich history and customs. After being founded in 1958, the university briefly closed in 1963 as a result of financial difficulties before reopening five years later, in 1968. When Jinggangshan Teachers College, Jinggangshan Medical College, and Jinggangshan Vocational and Technical College combined to form Jinggangshan College in July 2003, it marked a turning point in its history. In August of 2007, Jinggangshan University was renamed. The institution now has backing from the PRC Ministry of Education as well as the Jiangxi Provincial Government. It also benefits from a collaboration with Tongji institution and acts as a training site for military personnel who have been authorized by the Nanjing Military Region.
Jinggangshan University occupies 421 acres over four campuses, with a library housing over 2.25 million volumes and an allied “Third-level 1st-class” hospital. The institution supports nearly 27,000 students, including international students from various locations, with 21 teaching faculties that provide 80 undergraduate majors and master’s degrees spanning 11 fields, including the arts, engineering, and medicine. The institution cultivates a strong academic atmosphere with almost 1600 committed full-time teachers, including outstanding professors and an abundance of doctorate and master’s degree holders.
